{"id":9194,"date":"2019-05-29T12:21:40","date_gmt":"2019-05-29T16:21:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hiddenmesa.com\/?p=9194"},"modified":"2020-05-17T06:51:38","modified_gmt":"2020-05-17T10:51:38","slug":"salisbury-cathedral-in-southwestern-england","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hiddenmesa.com\/index.php\/salisbury-cathedral-in-southwestern-england\/","title":{"rendered":"Salisbury Cathedral in Southwestern England"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>We took some time off our busy tourist schedule to visit one of England&#8217;s foremost cathedrals, the Salisbury Cathedral in Salisbury.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This church was constructed in the 13th century, from 1220 through 1258 for the main part of the building; a period of only 38 years. It&#8217;s now part of the Church of England, but was part of the Roman Catholic Church when constructed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 1549, the church spire became the tallest in England when the spire at the Lincoln Cathedral crumbled. Since the Lincoln Cathedral Central Spire was never re-built, the Salisbury Cathedral remains the highest in England to this day.
